About Maryland FIRST

Maryland FIRST offers a progression of four programs for youth in grades K to 12, ages 6-18. With assistance from our sponsors, coaches, mentors and friends, FIRST programs challenge and inspire nearly 1,000 students in more than 100 teams across the state each year. We are always looking to add new teams, sponsors and mentors.

FIRST operations in Maryland are driven by a small staff in-state, supplemented by headquarters staff in Manchester, NH.  Our major partners include the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) for FLL and Jr. FLL programs and the College of Southern Maryland for FTC programs.

We coordinate events and fundraising in Maryland with the FIRST National Capital Region, which also encompasses Washington, DC and Virginia.  This coordinated effort helps us approach major sponsors to support events and teams throughout the region.  It also gives the teams more opportunity to compete in regional events.
